Paris: where we stayed

I thought I’d get back to sharing some of the details of our trip to France back in April, starting with the gorgeous place we stayed. For our week in Paris, we rented an apartment owned by the extremely talented furniture-designing couple behind Casamidy.  The apartment is on the top floor of the Hotel d’Hallwyl, which was the last Hotel Particulier built in the Marais before the Revolution. It was designed in 1760 by Louis XVI’s architect, Claude-Nicolas Ledoux. The apartment, which used to be servants’ quarters, has amazing exposed beams, tons of natural light from all the windows and skylights, a lovely little terrace, and amazing Paris rooftop views that make my heart sing!

I originally saw the apartment on Designtripper, and since then it’s been featured almost everywhere — including Elle Decor! And it’s no wonder: everything about the apartment, from structure to the smallest detail, is perfection. It was such an inspiring place to stay while visiting the Paris flea markets. And the apartment is in a fabulous location in the Marais, just blocks from the Centre Pompidou (which you can see from the apartment windows!), and in the midst of plenty of shopping and restaurants. And there are so many boucheries, boulangeries, and patisseries nearby that we frequently ate meals at home!

Here is the Hotel d’Hallwyl from the street:

Once you get through those imposing doors, there’s a lovely private courtyard.

And then once inside the building, you’re faced with this gorgeous staircase!

And finally, the apartment!

And did I mention those rooftop views???

This apartment was just the perfect place to stay in Paris. If you’re interested in booking it for your visit, you can find more information here.

Kristi McMurry - Love these! The close up of them holding hands is adorable.

Stacy + Neal, married!

This post could also be titled “I have a gorgeous new sister!”

Yes, my little brother got married a few weeks ago to his lovely long-time girlfriend, and I was lucky enough to be able to photograph their beautiful wedding day back home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. See if you don’t agree that they make pretty pictures!

This is just part one; more photos soon to come!
