Emily McCall Photography bio picture

My philosophy . . .

I love working with people who are fun.  Genuine.  Real.  And that’s what my photography is really all about: capturing the real you.  I can see the connections between the members of your family and the beauty in each one of you -- and that’s what I want to capture with my camera.

I don’t do the typical matching-outfits portraits, or the canvas-backdrop-strobe-lighting-say-cheese portraits.  I don’t want you to worry about having perfect hair, perfect smiles, and the kids on their best behavior.  Relax.  Have fun.  Be yourself.  I want to show you your family the way I see it through my lens: happy, beautiful, flawless in spite of the flaws.

So when I show up for your session, you don’t have to do any pretending.  Just be real.  I like t-shirts and jeans and flip-flops.  And jammies.  And mussed up hair and lollipop-stained faces.  I love hugs and tickle fights and peals of laughter, and snuggles and kisses too.  These things are real.  This is the way I want to remember my family, and it’s the way I want to help you remember yours.

My little monsters

I took some photos of my demon-doggies this weekend and I realized I hadn’t shared any pics of them in awhile — so here you go!

Don’t let their cuteness fool you — they are some serious troublemakers!  These next few are of Murphy . . .

And here’s Ollie (his fur is pretty short in this first one — you’ll see it’s grown out quite a bit since then):

This one cracks me up:

This one too!  :)

And here’s a few more all scrambled up — it’s getting to the point where it’s even hard for me to tell them apart in photos!

I have to admit, they’re a pretty great pair.  I don’t know what I’d do without them!  (Except maybe clean less . . . )

Lazy bones

I was walking past the guest bedroom when I happened to look in and see this:

She’s got such a tough life!

A trip to the zoo

My husband and I went to the Dallas Zoo yesterday morning, and of course I took my camera along!

I like the kids looking at the parrot in this shot:

Penguins!

A gorilla — but I had to shoot this guy through the glass.  I like the little girl’s reflection:

He got tired of us pretty quickly:

Some other birds:

And then, my favorite: the elephant!

Finally, one last random shot of a pretty scene:

I hope you all did something fun this weekend too!

My pooches

While I was taking photos of the trees in the backyard yesterday morning, the dogs demanded to have their portraits taken.  These have proven to me that it is now nearly impossible to tell them apart!

This one is Ollie (with his typical tongue placement!):

I’m fairly certain this one is Murphy:

Ollie again, I think:

This one is definitely Murphy; he runs in a diagonal line across our backyard over and over again . . .

Here he is taking a break:

And here they are together!  I don’t know why I like this photo so much, it’s completely out of focus . . . but it just seems to fit them!
