Emily McCall Photography bio picture

My philosophy . . .

I love working with people who are fun.  Genuine.  Real.  And that’s what my photography is really all about: capturing the real you.  I can see the connections between the members of your family and the beauty in each one of you -- and that’s what I want to capture with my camera.

I don’t do the typical matching-outfits portraits, or the canvas-backdrop-strobe-lighting-say-cheese portraits.  I don’t want you to worry about having perfect hair, perfect smiles, and the kids on their best behavior.  Relax.  Have fun.  Be yourself.  I want to show you your family the way I see it through my lens: happy, beautiful, flawless in spite of the flaws.

So when I show up for your session, you don’t have to do any pretending.  Just be real.  I like t-shirts and jeans and flip-flops.  And jammies.  And mussed up hair and lollipop-stained faces.  I love hugs and tickle fights and peals of laughter, and snuggles and kisses too.  These things are real.  This is the way I want to remember my family, and it’s the way I want to help you remember yours.

Lorilei + Tory

Isn’t it totally great when you meet people for the first time and you feel like you’ve known them forever?  That’s how it felt when I met Lorilei and Tory on Saturday morning — I just love them to death!  These two got married six years ago and wanted some new photos with each other, so Lorilei dragged out the wedding dress and Tory, like a trooper, donned a suit, and we headed to Fair Park for some fun!  The Texas State Fair hasn’t started yet, but we found plenty to keep us entertained anyway . . .

I LOVE this one:

This one’s in the amphitheater:

Of course we had to get a shot with the famous ferris wheel:

They are just so stinkin’ cute!

I think this one is just stunning:

A ring shot:

And then we played with the sun!  I call this one “headless husband”:

Here’s a visual of a “dazzling smile” — the sun is literally sparkling off of Lorilei’s teeth!

And this is one of my new favorite shots of all time — it makes me so warm and happy to look at it, I can just feel the love radiating off of them!

This whole session was such a blast.  And Lorilei and Tory are a perfect example that you don’t need a special occasion to justify a photo session.  Love is reason enough to celebrate anytime!

Stay tuned to see what happened when we ditched the dress and put on play clothes . . .

Whitney + Jeff, engaged!

Last night was an exciting night in my family–my sister-in-law got engaged!  Jeff proposed in private and then brought Whitney back to her parents’ house for a surprise party that everyone was in on–except Whitney!  Aren’t they the cutest?!

And Whitney’s mom and sister totally outdid themselves on this party–seriously!

Jeff texted us after the proposal to let us know that all went as planned…

And here Whitney is, mid-surprise–she walked into the backyard and there were about thirty-five people waiting for her!

And of course, the ring!

And here’s a quick little slideshow to memorialize the evening.  You can see it on black here.  Congratulations, Whitney and Jeff!  I can’t wait for the wedding planning to begin!!!

By the way, if you’re confused, thinking Whitney looks an awful lot like the girl from the bridal session in the previous post, you’re right! Whitney is her twin!

Diamonds on the soles of her shoes

Or rather, her finger!  This beautiful friend of mine got engaged recently, and of course I had to get my camera on her ring the moment I saw her.  Congratulations, Camille!
