That song has been playing in my head nonstop for three days now, so I thought I’d share. You’re welcome.
I was doing my weekly walk through Target about a month ago when I happened to notice out of the corner of my eye a yellow metal bar stool on the end of the furniture aisle. That stopped me dead in my tracks because I’ve been trolling Craig’s List for ages without luck trying to find a vintage pair of yellow Tolix Marais bar stools for the bar in our kitchen. So I made a beeline to check out Target’s Carlisle metal bar stools and I liked what I saw. Especially when I noticed that they’re just $99 for a pair–about $500 less than a pair of new Tolix stools would set you back. At that price, I had no choice but to take them home and give them a try.
The verdict: I love them. They’re good quality–they have a substantial weight about them and are sturdy and comfortable to sit on. They look a bit more mustard-y than bright yellow, but it’s a nice color and the paint doesn’t scratch off. And their design is a pretty darn close approximation of the Tolix stool. So maybe I’ll stumble across the real deal someday, but for now I’m content with this much more affordable pair. And it’s so nice having a spot to sit at our kitchen bar that I can’t believe I didn’t put stools there ages ago!
But the stools aren’t the only pretty yellow things in my house these days; I’m also hoarding Billy Balls. I bought a Craspedia bouquet a few weeks ago, let it dry out, and then put some in just about every room in the house.
So, so pretty. I just love yellow.
