Emily McCall Photography bio picture

My philosophy . . .

I love working with people who are fun.  Genuine.  Real.  And that’s what my photography is really all about: capturing the real you.  I can see the connections between the members of your family and the beauty in each one of you -- and that’s what I want to capture with my camera.

I don’t do the typical matching-outfits portraits, or the canvas-backdrop-strobe-lighting-say-cheese portraits.  I don’t want you to worry about having perfect hair, perfect smiles, and the kids on their best behavior.  Relax.  Have fun.  Be yourself.  I want to show you your family the way I see it through my lens: happy, beautiful, flawless in spite of the flaws.

So when I show up for your session, you don’t have to do any pretending.  Just be real.  I like t-shirts and jeans and flip-flops.  And jammies.  And mussed up hair and lollipop-stained faces.  I love hugs and tickle fights and peals of laughter, and snuggles and kisses too.  These things are real.  This is the way I want to remember my family, and it’s the way I want to help you remember yours.

I love one-year-olds!

Seriously, is one year old as good as it gets for kids?  It must be!  These one-year-olds I’ve been shooting lately are amazing!  I met Jake last night, who just turned one on Tuesday, and I’m smitten!  I don’t know how I get so lucky to shoot all these beautiful kids, but they really make my job easy!

His parents aren’t too tough on the eyes either . . . ;)

We had a blast, running and playing and enjoying some gorgeous sunset light . . .

I love this one.  Between the yummy light and that tender look on dad’s face, it couldn’t get much better:

Ha!

I told you, I’m smitten:

You may or may not be able to tell from these photos, but Jake is going to be a big brother in December!

Alright, I really can’t bear deciding what else to show you, so I’m just going to show you the whole session!  Turn on your speakers and enjoy!

There’s nothing like a cute baby

. . . to help get you through the week.  That’s my theory, anyway.  Here, test it out on my new favorite photo ever:

Made you smile, right?  I thought so!  That picture is just hilarious, he looks so shocked by me!  This is Hayden, who you met when he was two days and eight days old.  Now he’s already two months old!!!  I can’t believe how time flies.  His momma and I were laughing about how, with all that hair, he looks more like a little person than a baby:

One more fun little sequence: here he is, being hypnotized by my lens — he is getting very sleepy . . .

Aaaaaand lights out.

Awesome.  He’s gonna love that shot someday!  ;)

A trip to the zoo

My husband and I went to the Dallas Zoo yesterday morning, and of course I took my camera along!

I like the kids looking at the parrot in this shot:

Penguins!

A gorilla — but I had to shoot this guy through the glass.  I like the little girl’s reflection:

He got tired of us pretty quickly:

Some other birds:

And then, my favorite: the elephant!

Finally, one last random shot of a pretty scene:

I hope you all did something fun this weekend too!

The second set of announcements are 5×5 flat cards.  Again, all fonts, text, and colors are completely customizable.

Remember — all newborn sessions include a set of 24 custom birth announcements.  Seriously, don’t they just make you want to have a baby?!  :)
