Emily McCall Photography bio picture

My philosophy . . .

I love working with people who are fun.  Genuine.  Real.  And that’s what my photography is really all about: capturing the real you.  I can see the connections between the members of your family and the beauty in each one of you -- and that’s what I want to capture with my camera.

I don’t do the typical matching-outfits portraits, or the canvas-backdrop-strobe-lighting-say-cheese portraits.  I don’t want you to worry about having perfect hair, perfect smiles, and the kids on their best behavior.  Relax.  Have fun.  Be yourself.  I want to show you your family the way I see it through my lens: happy, beautiful, flawless in spite of the flaws.

So when I show up for your session, you don’t have to do any pretending.  Just be real.  I like t-shirts and jeans and flip-flops.  And jammies.  And mussed up hair and lollipop-stained faces.  I love hugs and tickle fights and peals of laughter, and snuggles and kisses too.  These things are real.  This is the way I want to remember my family, and it’s the way I want to help you remember yours.

Numero uno

Linus is celebrating the all-important first birthday this month, so we got together Saturday morning for a photo session to commemorate the occasion!  I work with Linus’s mom, and she and her husband are my heroes: they have just moved into a new house, but managed to clear enough space for us to do the shoot at their new home!  How they managed, I’ll never know.  But I was really glad they did, because the light was gorgeous–and so was Linus!  I’m such a sucker for those big brown eyes . . . Take a look!

Jennifer W - Every mom thinks her baby is beautiful, but not every mom has such beautiful pictures of her baby. I can't thank Emily enough for capturing these playful, tender moments with my boy. My heart melts every time I look at these photos. I'm so happy Emily came to our house to document this precious time in my little boy's life. I especially love the way she's framed up each shot--she's a great artist with a great eye. The best part is, we didn't have to drag Linus to some studio and try to get him to hold still for some photographer shooting on a tripod. Emily followed Linus around while he played all morning, and made herself his new best friend. :)August 29, 2008 - 10:29 am
