Emily McCall Photography bio picture

My philosophy . . .

I love working with people who are fun.  Genuine.  Real.  And that’s what my photography is really all about: capturing the real you.  I can see the connections between the members of your family and the beauty in each one of you -- and that’s what I want to capture with my camera.

I don’t do the typical matching-outfits portraits, or the canvas-backdrop-strobe-lighting-say-cheese portraits.  I don’t want you to worry about having perfect hair, perfect smiles, and the kids on their best behavior.  Relax.  Have fun.  Be yourself.  I want to show you your family the way I see it through my lens: happy, beautiful, flawless in spite of the flaws.

So when I show up for your session, you don’t have to do any pretending.  Just be real.  I like t-shirts and jeans and flip-flops.  And jammies.  And mussed up hair and lollipop-stained faces.  I love hugs and tickle fights and peals of laughter, and snuggles and kisses too.  These things are real.  This is the way I want to remember my family, and it’s the way I want to help you remember yours.

Matt, the firefighting pilot

Yesterday morning we headed up to The Woodlands for a very out-of-the-ordinary senior portrait session.  Matt, in addition to being a high school senior at Woodlands College Park, is a volunteer firefighter and is about to get his private pilot’s license–quite an impressive young man!  So where better to take his senior portraits?  At the fire station and the airport, of course!

We had a great time with Matt and his mom at the Needham Fire Station, where the very nice firemen let us use their shiny-clean fire trucks for photos.  Then we headed to the Fellowship of the Woodlands and the most beautifully landscaped church grounds I’ve ever seen.  Finally, we ended our session at the Conroe Airport where we toured the airplane hangar and took photos in Matt’s plane.  It was such a fun morning!

Matt will be taking his pilot’s certification test next week, so we want to wish him luck.  Then he’ll be graduating on May 30 and shortly thereafter he’ll be heading off to the University of Oklahoma–congratulations, Matt!

And as I promised his mom, here a couple sneak previews from the most unique senior portrait session ever–enjoy!
